Laptops in the classroom

  1. This is an interesting study. I like that you are asking some great questions regarding 1:1 use of laptops in instruction. I would like to suggest that you consider requesting administrative or parental permission to survey the students as well using observation to determine the students training. Students may have more computer knowledge that they have learned at home that has not been taught on campus. I don’t know if that will be an option for your research, but it might be helpful if you can get that type of data.

  2. I will definately consider that. I know many students will have learned some at home. I would be very interested in seeing how many have. Thanks for the suggestion.

  3. Glad I could help. By the way, in response to your post on my blog, I really struggled to get my action research posted. It just would not load correctly at all. I finally had to find a work around to make it post. Your plan has everything it is supposed to have in it.

  4. This looks like an interesting study. I would think that you would be able to find a good deal of using laptops in the classroom. I do have a question to ask, what grade levels in particular do you plan to focus your study upon or do you intend to study all grade levels that teachers agree to participate? I would also suggest considering that you survey your teachers more than once. You may also want to focus on computerized survey tools to help make the teacher survey be as accessible as possible for the teachers to integrate into their busy schedules. I think that may encourage more of the teachers to be willing and students can get benefit using technology in the classroom.

  5. I am thinking of doing it based on fifth grade. The reason is that the school district where I am going to do my internship has a laptop iniative for fifth graders. I think it will be a good chance to study it.
